Enjoying the Spring Weather

We spent the afternoon playing outside today. It was a gorgeous day. It was such a nice surprise to not have 20 mile-an-hour wind blowing today so we took advantage of it!

Clara still LOVES to play hopscotch so I made my first attempt of the year to draw it for her. Ignore the fact that the numbers are upside down - she didn't care!

Owen hung out in his bouncy seat watching his big sister play and sing.
Looking like his Daddy...

Clara Cam

It is time for another addition of...

Clara Cam!!!

I uploaded Clara's pictures from her digital camera that Papa and Granny gave her for her birthday. I couldn't wait to see what new pictures we have. Here are a few of her best...

What Do You Use Your Chandelier For?

This is my new use for our chandelier. This is how I have been able to get through dinner. Notice the lovely baby toys. Whatever works.

Punky Brewster

If you haven't had the chance to check out Owen's hair in person, let me paint you a picture.

He has a double swirl in the top back of his head, mirroring each other, one going clockwise the other counter-clockwise. Essentially swirling towards each other.

He also has a swirl/cowlick in the front right of his head.

Somehow, Owen also has two parts on both sides of his head (although the left one is more dominant than the other).

So, with all that said, he has a natural mo hawk.

Owen woke up Monday morning with an incredible hair-do. His little mo hawk has taken new heights.

Clara has always been my Spunky Brewster and it is very fitting now that Owen is my Punky Brewster.

My Play doh Girl

Thanks to El Nino, we had crazy weather the first weekend of Spring - 6 inches of snow and wind chills in the 20s. And because of wind gusts of 50 miles an hour, we decided not to go out to play in the snow. Instead, Clara spent the afternoon playing play doh. Literally, for hours, she played and played all afternoon. Adam and I took turns sitting with her and helping her make whatever her heart desired.

Usually, her creations, and ours, are food. Using the play doh containers as bowls or pots and pans. The lids are plates. It is always pretty interesting what kind of food combinations she comes up with.

Making a sandwich - peanut butter, jelly and cheese...

A prepared plate for me - bread, meatball, eggplant, and french fries...
Delicious.

Eye Watch 2010

We have been on eye watch. In this house, we always thought that we would end up with brown-eyed babies. With Clara, it was a HUGE surprise that her eyes turned into the most amazing color blue that we have ever seen. It was once again a topic of discussion when we found out we were expecting again.

Well, in the six weeks that sweet little Owen has been in our lives, we have taken him to a bright window or sat close to a lamp to gaze at the eyes daily. In the last couple of weeks we have seen a change from the dark blue that most babies are born with. They have actually gotten lighter.

I was able to capture what they look like right now...

What do you think? Is it too early to call him Ol' Blue Eyes?

Because, you asked

I have had several people ask, so here you go...

Who can forget the mysterious wall hanging?
Ta-Da!
These are old letters from the, now-defunct, bank Washington Mutual. Well, except the letter "e." Not sure where it came from, but we just fell in love with these letters.

Our New Address: Crapsville

It all began with the washing machine. Yep. It broke. Water all over the garage. Had to buy a new one IMMEDIATELY - remember? We have a newborn. Then, I stepped on something sharp and sliced open the bottom of my foot. Oh, then Adam had a business trip in which he was gone for several days. Then - to top it off - I got pink eye.

You think that we moved to the Bermuda Triangle. Or just the city of bad luck.

So, we thought life was back to normal and wonderful again.

HA!

Well, after a fantabulous weekend of beautiful weather and soaking up the sun, it hit. The allergies. Clara had a few asthma attacks so the breathing treatments began and then Owen started to get a little snotty. How did my children inherit my sinuses and my lungs? I broke down on Saturday morning and took Owen to the doctor. He had a sinus infection.

Lovely. Just lovely.

Wondering why we canceled play dates or why I failed to return phone calls?

This is how my life was looking:

Knocking on wood, this week will be better. You know why?
Because I am packing and moving out of Crapsville.

Why is my Bed so Lumpy?

Welcome Spring! Almost.

Today, we were able to spend a wonderful morning outside. It was absolutely beautiful outside! While it is not quite Spring - we still have a week to go - it sure felt like it.

Get Ready to Melt

The smiling has begun. While this is not the full on gummy smile Owen so graciously gave me twice while changing his diaper last Wednesday morning, this is the closest photographic evidence that he has a sweet little smirk.
And the hair rocks, too. He is working on a mo hawk via a receding hairline.

Bring on the hair gel.

Tummy Time

Oh, tummy time. Owen hates it. It is torture time for him. It doesn't matter how we distract him, he screams. Loudly. It is actually quite a funny cry, too. It is the only time he busts out simultaneous cries and squeals - imagine a cat fight in the middle of the night during a full moon.

This is how tummy time normally looks:
But, the other day I was wondering why he got quiet suddenly while I was in the kitchen getting coffee.

This is what I found:
Ain't that sweet?

Of course, when he woke up, he picked up where he left off - the cat fight scream.
