Formally a kindergarten teacher who is incredibly blessed beyond belief to be able to take a few years off to enjoy each and every moment with her babies. Pathological picture taker and fan of staying in pajamas all day. Aficionado of bad television. Odd need for things to be organized, complete control freak, but not ashamed to call her Dad the moment things get complicated.
A.K.A. Cute and charming husband. Wants you to think he is grown up yet still cool. Lover of dirt. Technologically un-savvy. Best thing that ever happened to me. One hundred percent in love with his children and best Daddy to walk this planet, although, some days he is lucky he is still alive.
On Thursday, Owen turned three weeks old! He is such an amazing little thing who is incredibly calm and sweet. It is so much fun to see him change everyday and become more alert and aware of what is going on around him! He just really fits in perfectly!
The other day, Clara was playing in our room. She loves to come up with new games and things to pretend especially on our bed. It could be a spaceship, a car, the sheets can be transformed into a tent for a camp out, you name it, she will play it. So the other day, I didn't think much about her playing in there. But when I went to check on her, I found her surrounded by many of her stuffed animals...And a little later, I found this...
She was having story time with her animals. Interesting choice, for a kid that is just one week short of turning three years old :)
The past couple weeks, since Adam went back to work, we had the pleasure of having my Mom stay with us for a while and then Adam's mom stay with us for a week. It was so nice having the extra help and set of hands! It was also great having the extra time to recover from my c-section. Thanks for the wonderful time Mom and Linda!
Last Sunday, Adam's Parents and Grandma came to visit. It was the first time that Owen met Ga-Ga. It was a great visit and hope to see you again soon Ga-Ga!!! We love you!
My little pretender loves to "play Mommy." Today, she was really loving playing with one of my slings. Apparently, she had quadruplets (obviously non-identical :) - a llama, turtle, cat and a dog. And nothing says "Mommy" like a birthday hat. That's my girl.
Our little man has almost gained a whole pound and grown nearly two inches!!!
Little "O" is an incredible little baby. He is a calm little guy (except when he needs to burp or toot - like all men, right?) He loves to cuddle and watch his sister. And, thanks to my friend Deanna, he actually has a few things that fit his skinny little body! Thanks Dea!
He still has a great head of hair, although we think that it has thinned out a bit. We also think it has turned a little bit golden. His eyes are now a gray-blue. It is still up in the air if he will have my brown eyes or Adam and Clara's beautiful blue eyes.
While, Owen has had several sponge baths since he was born, tonight he had his first actual bath. His little belly button scab came off and I couldn't wait to get him in water. Like when Clara was a newborn, we bathed him in the bathroom sink tonight. And although he was not thrilled or at all happy about the experience, Clara and I had a blast washing him. He probably has the cleanest feet since that was Clara's job and she loved it!
All of the playing in the snow last week and her total enjoyment of watching the Olympics, Clara has been pretending to skate, ski and do all sorts of other winter sports. A few nights ago, she had a brilliant idea to make snowshoes. She couldn't quite figure out how to keep the cardboard on her feet, but with Daddy's divine intervention and a little string, she had a great night of snowshoeing through the house. Let's see what she comes up with after watching Snowboarding tonight on television...
Little Owen is still pretty skinny. Each day he is putting on a bit more meat. Although not enough to fill out some of his newborn clothes yet. The other day he somehow managed to wiggle his arms out of his sleeves and wiggle the neck of his onesie down his body to nearly his waist. All this while still being swaddled.
Here is a few pictures of another Houdini attempt - this time only one arm managed to get free...
Today was even more beautiful than yesterday! Adam and Clara braved the elements to enjoy the 12 1/2 inches of snow we received. It was an incredible sight - it is unbelievable that we have that much snow on the ground!!!
They, once again, had a great time together - it is so sweet to watch them play together.
This is part of what they did yesterday - they finished their snowman family. Check out the new additions - Mommy Snowgirl and Owen Snowbaby. Look closely, Owen Snowbaby has a pacifier in his mouth.
We woke up yesterday morning to a surprise - SNOW! On Owen's one week birthday, it snowed!
So, while Clara and Adam were outside having a blast making a Daddy snowman, a Clara snowgirl, sledding and having snowball fights, Owen and I were busy hanging out and watching out the window. I thought it was appropriate that he wear this little onesie...
This is a newborn size onesie and preemie socks! He is so TINY! I know he won't be this tiny forever - with him taking three ounces every three hours - he is slowly packing on the ounces.
